We had another horrifying Halloween in 1999. We dug up the graveyard from 1998, complete with thunder and lightning. Then we added a giant spider and web to welcome hapless trick-or-treaters to our humble house of horrors!
This is a shot of the front lawn, from an angle.
It is easier to read the tombstones from here.
To either side of the spider are fluorescent black light fixtures. Under these lights, the spider glowed an erie orange.
There is also a black light illuminating the spider web.
We decided that anything made of spider-silk would glow blue-white.
Here is a shot from the front, showing the spider, head-on.
From the picture, you can tell that he is large, but you can't really grok his size until you see a person nearby.
Hint - each leg is 10 feet long!
This picture was taken before setup was complete.
Missing are the spider victims, webbed up and hanging under the eaves on the left.
They, too, were illuminated with black light.
Where do
giant spiders come from?
