Back-Story And Theme Of Wolfstone Haunt

We believe that haunts work better when there is an underlying theme. Dennis has trouble understanding the haunted front yard with an electric chair and crashed flying saucer. He loves the idea of the crashed saucer, but the idea deserves to be developed better and carried further. And how does the electric chair fit in there?

Not everything in the Wolfstone haunt adheres to the theme, but having a theme helps us to make some decisions.

It also lets us create a back-story to explain where it all came from.

Back-Story

It is Halloween, the night when the veil between the mortal world and the supernatural world becomes thin. Through the veil, strange creatures from beyond can come into our world - for just one night.

At the Wolfstone graveyard, the spirits of the dead come out to feel once again the pleasures of the mortal world. They come to sing, dance, and tell stories.

They are the happy dead, and when they encounter the living, they don't want to hurt you, or really even scare you.

It's just a Dead Man's Party.

Is It Scary?

The Wolfstone haunt does include some startles, like the
pumpkin popup and popup skeleton. But it doesn't contain anything really scary or threatening.

Mostly, we provide a creepy atmosphere, with things line the spooky clock and gargoyle that breathes smoke.

In particular, we try not to scare the really little kids. If they get scared, we'll show them how the stuff works and let them operate the controls.

But we make an exception for the teen boys who want to think that they're so tough. We like to make them scream like little girls.

Is It Bloody?

Some years ago, we designed a
skull fountain and formulated some very nice fake blood to go with it. This would be the first gorey thing in the haunt, and we have somehow never gotten around to deploying it.

For the most part, we prefer low gore.
