Does it take an adult to put on a great haunt?

Some of you might wonder whether it takes an adult to put on a great haunt. Perhaps it is something that kids don't care about, can't do, can't do well - or flat out can't afford to do.

This is certainly not the case.

I don't have any hard statistics, but there are quite a few teen haunters on the e-mailing lists. You just can't tell because age-related discussions only pop up rarely.

There are some tendencies that set haunters apart by age. Teen haunters often have less disposable income. This means you will seldom find them dropping thousands of dollars on a single professional prop. But it also means that they excel in cutting corners, delivering a servicable scare on a budget. [There are exceptions to the income tendency: some teens work like mad to save up haunting money; some adults are perpetually tapped-out.]

The message is just this: There is no age barrier when it comes to having the desire or ability to haunt!

Here's an example of a haunter seeking a little help and encouragement. Only at the end do you find out his age.

Subject: Partially OT - Can anyone help me?

Is there anybody out there who could give me some
information on starting a business? I know many of
you own haunt venues, and I'd like information about
the whole idea. I've got a general idea of it, and I
am doing research in other places, but I'd like to
start with some outside information then start really
researching it in books. I know what I've explained
doesn't quite let you know what I'd like to do, but
I'd prefer to not dish out my whole fantasy. I fear
discouragement from those I decide to share with
(And I'm sure there's someone who's going to say
"You're 15, it's impossible to start your own
business, don't even bother"), so I'll leave it at
this for now. If you'd like to help, don't hesitate
to email or IM me. IM: Mars2004

Thanks list!
