Commercial Crystal Balls

In 2001 we considered a seance scene in the graveyard, but it never happened. This year we might do a little better; we already have a couple of crystal balls we might use.

Fantasy Globe

[photo] This is a "Fantasy Globe", found on sale for $20 at
Spencer Gifts in early 2007.

[photo] When turned off, it's just a white glass globe.

[photo] When you turn it on, moving colored lights are projected on the inside.

Mystic Lite

[photo] This is a "Mystic Lite", found on sale for $20 at
Spencer Gifts in August 2002.

The sphere contains a translucent fluid and some solid material that is stirred up by a small motor. A small light bulb on a stalk extends up into the center of the globe.

There were only two colors available: green and blue-green. That's a pity; I would love to have one in blood-red. The globe is about 5 1/2" in diameter.

[photo] As of December 2003, the Mystic Lite is available in red! It's not quite what I would call blood red, but pretty good. The red globe has a chrome-plated plastic base. Blue and green still have black plastic bases.

Crystal Ball Lamp

[photo] This "Crystal Ball Lamp" was purchased over E-Bay sometime in 2000.

It is filled with water and metallic flake confetti. The base contains a light and rotating color wheel that cycles through red, green, gold, and blue.

The globe is about 4 1/4" in diameter.
