Haunting With Coarse Animation

Something that moves is a lot scarier than something that just sits there. Motion can deliver the in-your-face scare of a ghoul suddenly popping out of a crypt, or the subtle motion of a "stuffed" dummy that turns its head to watch you walk by. It's alive!

We use the term "precision animation" to describe situations where the moving part has to go exactly there and here in order to make the effect work.

This page is dedicated to what we call "coarse animation", where the scare is driven by motion that is not necessarilly precise, often moving large or heavy objects. Jumping ghouls, giant roof spiders that rear up, and simple repetitive motion are good examples.
