We used Allied Specialty Insurance for several years and paid a small = fortune. -And we aren't that big a haunt. For 20 nights, we were paying more than double a doctor would pay for = malpractice insurance for an entire year! (-to say 'boo' to people.) Allied is a nice company. I started with them because they are well known = and advertise in HA magazine. And some will say our expenses were nothing comparatively, but I finally = shopped around. I found a local service that wrote me a good policy through Zurich for = around $700. and I really enjoyed going into their office and sitting down and chatting with them. Of course, you may not get such = face time with other big companies. I still get the policy packet about a month after we close! -but that = seems to be common. Best advice: Ask different insurance agents what insurance would cost for = a Haunted House. Compare cost and policies, then write a check! -and make sure your haunt is so safe and idiot proof, that you hopefully = will not need it. :-) - - - - - Subject: Re: Hall: Insurance From: "ThirstinHowl IV" Date: 7 Aug 2001 16:36:44 -0700 There is a company called Allied Specialty Insurance who tout themselves = as being "Committed to the Leisure, Entertainment and Amusement = Industries." I have seen them at Transworld, and they advertise quite = regularly in HAM, plus they are IAHA members. I have not had any personal = experience with the company, but I am considering it. They are at http://www.alliedspecialty.com Phone #727-367-6900, 800-237-3355 Fax 727-367-1407 Let me know if you have a positive or negative experience with them. Every year their sales guy gives us a = call and they want to give us a great deal, I say O.K., give them our facts, = and they always come in with the highest bid. This year was no different, they were almost 3 times our normal carrier. We use Zurich Insurance, they are the largest underwriter in the world for insurance, so they are not a fly-by-night cut rate company. www.zurich.com is their website for company info. What you need to do is find a local insurance carrier in your area who offers Zurich as one of the companies in their portfolio. Hope this helps - Good Luck!
