I forgot that last year = they implemented a first time Thursday night event on the preview weekend. = Chris (Chairman of the Morgue) attended this night, and might be able to give us = his thoughts...as my foggy memory does not remember that far back. :-/ I can go either night...but I think Friday, (October 5th) works better = for most folks due to work schedules. What say you listfolk? Witchy _/\_ ** >> Yes, I did Thursday night with a friend and then stayed for Friday night = too to get together with the list folks. Everything was up and running = Thursday in the park, but there was no pre-Haunt dinner or early entry. Early = entry was not necessary...lines were not bad at all that night. This tactic = worked really well. We did all the walk-throughs, re-themed rides and the = hanging on Thursday, and on Friday did the sit-down shows and anything we thought we'd like to see again. Clearly, most people are not going to do two consecutive nights, so a good compromise would be Friday night. More list = members will be there and the dinner/entry option will be available, and = as Susan mentioned, Friday is not as tough as Saturday when it comes to wait times. Friday of preview weekend used to be a breeze, but each year more people catch on to the advantages. Early entry is a definite advantage on = a crowded night. If you get in 15 min. early and hit the slow-loading re-themed mine train and log ride first, it can save you an hour or more later on. When I went with the hearse club on a Saturday later in the month, the = park was absurdly crowded. Each hearse driver was given two free dinner = tickets and two free event passes, but once inside the lines were much too long = and just getting around was difficult. Having done everything on the preview weekend, we just hung out a lot at the entrance to Camp Spooky (Snoopy) = where they had 5 big foggers running, breathing fog and watching the roamers = scare the pants off people. Knott's now advertises these ScareZones where the = fog is thick, the lights dim and monsters roam. It's fun to take a load off = for a while on any night and watch them work. You start to see their tactics = and acting ability and it can help in your own events. Hope to see lots of = you there this year! Chris, Chairman of the Morgue ps. If you are smart (I wasn't 3 years ago) you will avoid a night run on = Bigfoot Rapids. Being soaked all night won't improve any part of your evening. - - - - - Subject: Re: Howl - Knotts Scary Farm Details please From: "Effie's Place" Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2001 18:56:11 -0700 > Oh Effie, that's great! WHEN are you coming? Will you be coming in time to join the rest of us on the preview weekend, October 4th?? > I wish! Unfortunately, no. We'll be in the area over the 9th to the 19th. We're heading into San Diego for the USS Morton reunion. This will be our second ship reunion in a 4 week period! I'm thrilled....really I am..... > Yes, they have a separate daytime admission ..... To my knowledge you = can not combine the events, and KSF has a separate admission. Good to know! My main objectives are eat a funnel cake, ride the log flume and mentally figure out how I can translate their haunting stuff to my haunting stuff. Oh yes, and of course the Mr. needs to ogle Elvira's ....uhhhh...'upper frontals'. > > >Is Knotts in > > full swing during the evening or is it just special events with = special rides? > > rides are in full swing, and the log flume, roaring rapids and mining = car rides are fully >revamped with a halloween theme...and costumed characters throughout to getcha! > In that case I'd better pack some clean skivvies in my purse! I've heard that there are no costumed customers only staff. How ridged are they on that. I'm thinking spider deelie-bobber headband. Just to be in = the spirit of it and to embarrass the Mr. > Same with Elvira show for me. Although it is also fun, and she is a = hoot, with a body to die for , I remember Elvira when she was starting out. We lived in San Diego during the early '80's and got to see her go from a cheesy monster movie hostess = to a cheesy super star monster movie hostess. She's genuinely a nice person. She sent my husband an autographed photo just for having our cat's nuts = cut off! .... that didn't come out quite right. .....but she is a nice person. I've had contact with her and her company once and it was all good. > In any event, I sure hope we get to meet you! You know we just LOVE = fresh blood! :) Thanks for saying that and I wish I could swing the time frame just a tad but it's sewn up. I don't know about 'fresh blood'....but I have 'clean blood'! Thanks also for the info. Looks like we'll maybe do the Hollywood Wax = Museum during the day and hit Knotts at 7pm. The biggest problem for me is the heat here = in the valley! Is >>>>>>Tujunga any cooler than Tarzana? :) >Witchy _/\_ > ** Dear Witchy, Co-hosting in September sounds great! Doing the tours would be fun too. Tujunga is basically the area between the 210 freeway and the nearby foothills, roughly parallel to Burbank. My house is a corner lot = surrounded by Oleanders and I have a well shaded yard. (and good neighbors)(and not = to mention a house and a yard and a garage full of Halloween paraphernalia) A good place for a gathering if you ask me. Let's do it! What day works = best for you? Hauntmeister Morgan - - - - - Subject: Howl - 8/25 Gathering Update/Question From: "Wraith" Date: Fri, 10 Aug 2001 10:52:16 -0700 Alrighty then, Here's an update on the gathering here at my place on the 25th. I've got the likes of Thee ScareCrow, Morgan, Sulauner, Pollogeist, FrankenSusan, Britt and Holly, Jack of Shadows, Debbie Valenta (maybe), Tim Allen and more who have contacted me to let me know that they're coming. It sounds like it's going to be a good get together, but there's always room for more. Ron Tye contacted me and asked if we should change the "how to make a fog chiller" demo into a "make your own chiller" workshop. What do you think, folks? I'd love to have one of them puppies for m'self. Wouldn't you? Let's hear some votes! Erich Lubatti will be giving his demo on casting plastics in rubber molds so bring your note pads and recorders so you can remember what to do! If time permits, I'll be giving a demo on simple masking tape body casting. Thanks to various fantastic companies and friends, some of you lucky people will be going home with doorprizes while the rest go home with catalogs and other free goodies. My wife has graciously volunteered to create a few of her famous Halloween desserts to go with lunch. Remember folks, bring some burgers to BBQ or a dish to share. I'll provide the propane. Here's the directions now so you can delete them by accident right before you need them just like I would. :o) I- 15 to Winchester Rd. I can't tell you yet who it was donated by, but I will. Believe me when I say that you REALLY want to come to the little soiree at my place on the 25th. - - - - -
