FX Contact Lens Brands

There are several companies that make FX contact lenses, and many more that resell them. Product lines come and go. Companies merge and are acquired.

You should use this page as a glimpse into the history of FX contacts, including some designs that are no longer available. If the designs here inspire you to get some, then you should search around for current availability.

Please read our disclaimers as to the timeliness and origin of this information.

Dr. Nina Getz (Mossberg Haunt Mistress) says that "The main manufacturers of theatrical contact lenses are Soflens Technology in Marietta Georgia (my source and the vendor for most of the lens images you have on your web), Ciba Vision Corp in Duluth Georgia (just the Wild Eyes) and Innova Vision, Inc out of Taiwan. '9mm SFX' is a very cool custom manufacturer out of Medford Oregon. True artists handpaint the custom designed lenses for those with an unlimited budget." [3/2009]

I have a prescription pair of Wild Eyes in their Wildfire pattern, as seen in the Grinch pictures. They are a lot of fun! I heartily endorse them!

"Game Face" brand

Game Face was a series of strange lenses with sports themes. They were originally made by Wesley Jessen, but discontinued when Ciba Vision bought the company.

"Fun Lenses" brand

This line has roughly 22 designs, including one that glows bright green under black light. These are soft contacts that can be worn up to 8 hours per day. They are available with prescription strength, or plano for those who do not need corrective lenses.

According to http://www.lensquest.com, these are made in England by the same company that designed the Darth Maul lenses for Star Wars, The Phantom Menace.

"SFX Lenses" brand

This line has roughly 16 designs. These are soft contacts that can be worn up to 8 hours per day. These are perhaps the most expensive of the mass-produced FX lenses, costing $100 and up - per lens.

These lenses are made by (or for) LensQuest (http://www.lensquest.com). They are also available at http://www.amazinglenses.com.
